Lucas Landscape Maintenance

Grounds Maintenance

Managed grounds kept in order, all year round.

Scheduled maintenance for commercial sites, estates and managed grounds, on a fixed rota with one point of contact. Larger private gardens too.

What we do

One team, a set schedule, no chasing.

We maintain commercial sites, managed residential estates, private estates and business premises. The rota and the scope are agreed once, in writing, and the same crew works to it across the year.

Larger grounds need more than mowing: hedges, ditches, paddocks and access routes all have their own season. We plan those into the year rather than reacting to them.

Larger private gardens, estates and bigger properties are looked after on the same terms. That is where a team of two to six earns its keep: a big garden is done properly in one visit rather than chipped away at over several.

As well as the ongoing maintenance, we offer our other services as and when required, along with winter gritting and pothole repairs.

Commercial contracts

Managing a site, an estate or a portfolio?

The commercial page sets out how a grounds contract works with us: a site walk before any price, a written scope and rota, one named contact, and insurance and method statements supplied up front.

Commercial grounds maintenance

What is covered

The work included.

Scope is set per property, commercial or private. Most clients take some combination of the below.

Commercial sites and managed grounds

Business premises, communal grounds and managed sites on a fixed rota.

One point of contact, scope agreed in writing.

Estate maintenance

Larger grounds with mixed terrain and access.

Planned across the full year.

Larger gardens and estates

Bigger private gardens, estates and grounds on a regular rota.

Mowing, hedges, beds and seasonal work, by the same team each time.

Seasonal works

Leaf clearance, cutbacks and spring preparation.

Planned into the rota rather than left until they are urgent.

Grass cutting

Lawns, verges, banks and open grass.

Ride-on and pedestrian machines as the ground needs.

Hedge cutting

Formal hedges and field boundaries.

Cut to season and to nesting restrictions.

Paddock maintenance and flailing

Topping, flailing and weed control.

Keeps grazing usable and boundaries clear.

Site clearance

Overgrown ground brought back to a workable state.

Arisings removed or chipped on site.

Grassland management

Meadow and rough grassland cut on a longer cycle.

Timed around wildlife where it matters.

Drainage and ditch work

Ditches cleared and reprofiled.

Standing water and blocked runs dealt with.

Winter gritting

Paths, car parks and access routes gritted in icy weather.

Alongside the regular maintenance.

Pothole repairs

Potholes in drives, car parks and access roads repaired.

Alongside the regular maintenance.

Visit frequency is usually weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Estates and paddocks often run on a seasonal rota instead.

Common questions

Questions we get about maintenance.

Do you take on commercial contracts?

Yes. Business premises, managed sites and estates are maintained on a fixed rota with one point of contact. The commercial grounds maintenance page sets out how contracts work.

Do you look after private gardens?

Yes, larger ones. Bigger gardens, estates and properties with grounds are maintained on the same terms as commercial sites: a regular rota, the same team each time, and a scope agreed up front. With a team of two to six, that is the work we are set up for.

How often do you visit?

Weekly, fortnightly or monthly for most grounds and larger gardens. Paddocks and rough grassland usually run on a seasonal rota instead. The schedule is set when we agree the scope.

Is it the same team each time?

Yes, wherever we can. The crew that sets up the schedule is the crew that works it, so nobody has to re-explain the property.

What happens to the arisings?

Removed from site or chipped and left on site, whichever suits the property. Agreed up front so it is not a surprise on the invoice.

Do you work through winter?

Yes. Growth slows but hedges, ditches, clearance and drainage are winter work. Visit frequency usually drops rather than stopping.

How quickly will I hear back?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. A site visit is usually within the same week. We look at the property before quoting anything.
